Excellent quality training with appropriate real world application and evaluation is vital to any agency’s operation, stability, growth, and sustainability. Yet, far to many training sessions are given without evaluating how the information is being applied by the attendees on the job and the effect it is having with children. The “do as I say” teaching methods are a thing of the past replaced by real world experience, application and evaluation. ALL trainings MUSTs:
· MUST be applicable to the real world. · MUST be relevant and interesting. · MUST allow for feedback from the people attending the training. · MUST be evaluated against a real world application; that is, results based. · MUST provide knowledge that leads to skill attainment, attitude reframing and, finally, results based on the job behavioral change (actually used on the job—part of their everyday behavior).
