The Difference That Makes The Difference

Opening a Child Development Center (CDC) is a rewarding opportunity. However, the agency MUST always keep in mind the following:

· MUST meet or exceed all federal, state, and licensing regulations.

· MUST constantly monitor budgetary considerations including sustainability.

· MUST continuously seek multiple funding sources.

· MUST take into account  logistical support including life cycle cost analysis.

· MUST be aware of the ever changing demographic, economic and social changes in and around the service area.

· MUST take into account the political climate towards childcare and child development.

· MUST account for zoning considerations and the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) process.

· MUST always keep in mind that there will inevitably be something that comes up that was never planned for.

· MUST keep the children and families you are going to serve in mind at all times. Every decision made ask yourself—“How Does This Help Children and Families?”
